Haven House South Dowling (also known as PIF House) will be a place where young people experiencing homelessness will receive not just a home but help with mental and physical health issues through targeted counselling intervention, support programs and a focus on providing life skills and resilience training from the project partners.

Haven House will also provide practical learning opportunities such as cooking skills, budgeting, education and job readiness.

The proposal is articulated through form, material and recess, and these three main gestures form a dialogue with the traditional terrace.

The site is located in the inner city suburb of Surry Hills and is bounded by South Dowling Street and the Eastern Distributer to the east, Phelps Street to the south and Chapman Lane to the west.
